COMPASS Crisis Center is in search of a dedicated professional to provide essential support and advocacy for individuals affected by sexual violence. This role involves delivering advocacy services through a crisis hotline, as well as collaborating with local healthcare facilities and law enforcement.
As a partner of Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio, COMPASS is committed to serving all survivors of sexual assault and their families across various counties. The organization emphasizes crisis intervention, advocacy, education, and prevention initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage on-call responsibilities for the 24-hour crisis hotline.
- Offer advocacy and support for victims and their families at local emergency rooms and law enforcement agencies.
- Respond swiftly to requests for advocacy from survivors at medical facilities or law enforcement, ensuring advocacy privileges are upheld at all partner locations.
- Complete all required documentation and reporting as dictated by organizational policies and funding requirements.
- Maintain compliance with all safety regulations, policies, and procedures while ensuring client confidentiality.
Qualifications for Advocates:
- A Bachelor's or Associate Degree in social work, human services, or a related discipline, or a high school diploma accompanied by relevant experience in victim support.
- Capability to work with moderate supervision and meet the physical demands of the position, which includes sedentary tasks with occasional standing during hospital visits.
- A valid driver's license and auto insurance are required, along with regular proof of coverage.
- Completion of COMPASS Crisis Intervention training and mandated training for Ohio's rape crisis centers, if not previously completed.
This part-time role operates on an as-needed basis and requires background checks, including FBI and BCII screenings.
