Position Overview

The Speech Pathologist is responsible for conducting thorough evaluations and ongoing assessments of patients' speech and language conditions. This role involves the development and execution of tailored care plans that address identified issues while actively engaging patients and their families in the therapeutic process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform initial and continuous assessments of patients' speech and language abilities.
  • Design and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding therapy goals and progress.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating patient discharge from therapy services.
  • Supervise and mentor clinical fellows, students, and support staff.

Educational Requirements:

A Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field is required.

Certification:

Must possess a Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or be in the process of completing the Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) after passing the national examination.

Experience:

A minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in either inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation settings is required.

Essential Skills:

The position demands strong critical thinking abilities, sound judgment, and the capacity to work independently. The ability to function effectively in a high-pressure environment is essential.

Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required within 30 days of employment.

Licensure:

Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in North Carolina is mandatory.
