We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Event Coordinator to join our team at Michaels Arts and Crafts. As an Event Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning and executing events that provide a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for our guests.
Key Responsibilities- Event Planning and Coordination
- Plan and coordinate multiple events simultaneously, including children's birthday parties and other craft classes or events.
- Engage with clients of all ages, from 4 to 94+, by creating an environment of fun and creativity.
- Demonstrate and instruct party participants in the completion of craft projects, perform face painting and other activities.
- Facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags, balloons, etc. to company standards.
- Communicate events with clients and store team members.
- Complete administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and completing paperwork as needed.
- Adjust plans and events based on clients' feedback and needs.
- Create backup or emergency plans to be executed as needed.
- Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
- Customer Experience
- Help customers shop, locate products, and provide them with solutions.
- Provide fast and friendly checkout experience.
- Engage customers on benefits of Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards and complete enrollments.
- Educate customers on Voice of Customer (VOC) survey.
- Assist with Omni channel processes, including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS).
- Participate in the truck un-load, stocking and planogram (POGs) processes.
- Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance.
- Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties as assigned.
- Support shrink and safety programs.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements; execute Company policies and standards.
- Interact with others in an accepting and respectful manner; remain positive and respectful, even in difficult situations; promote commitment to the organizations vision and values; project a positive image and serve as a role model for other Team Members.
- Cross-trained in Custom Framing selling and production.
- Participate in daily store cleanliness activities, including (but not limited to) sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining cleanliness of restrooms.
- Other Duties as Assigned
This role requires a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude. The ideal candidate will have excellent people skills, experience working with children and children's events, and good communication skills, including written, verbal, and nonverbal communication, as well as listening skills. Retail and/or customer service experience is required.
Physical RequirementsThe Event Coordinator will be required to:
- Remain standing for long periods of time.
- Move throughout the store.
- Regularly bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch.
- Lift heavy boxes and access high shelves by ladder or similar equipment.
The Event Coordinator will work in a public retail store setting, taking care of customers. All public areas are climate-controlled, but some stock rooms may not be. Some outdoor work may be assigned to retrieve shopping carts or while unloading trucks. The Frame shop contains glass cutters and heat presses. Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.
