Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

At Homestead Post Acute, we are seeking a skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team on a PRN basis. As a COTA, you will work closely with our occupational therapists to provide high-quality care to our residents.

Job Summary:

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) will assist occupational therapists in providing treatment to residents who have been impaired by illness, injury, or aging. The COTA will work with residents to adapt to their social and physical environment by mastering tasks essential for daily living.

Responsibilities:
  • Treat patients as directed by the occupational therapist.
  • Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per OT Board.
  • Treat patients per the physician treatment plan.
  • Assist the nursing department with training of Restorative Aides.
  • Communicate with the supervisor and other health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
  • Participate in in-services training programs for other staff in the facility.
  • Record evaluations, daily treatment notes, weekly progress notes, recertification documentation, per Occupational Therapy Board State Practice Act and governmental and third-party payer requirements.
  • Record treatment changes per policy and procedures.
  • Instruct patient's families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training in preparation for discharge from therapy services.
  • Participate in discharge planning.
  • Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area.
  • Report any problems with department equipment so that it is maintained in good working order.
Requirements:
  • Licensed as a Staff Occupational Therapy Assistant Board of the State.
  • Proficient in computer skills such as inputting data into programs such as Casamba and Point Click Care.

Education:

A minimum of an Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant Studies is required. A COTA certification is preferred.
