Job SummaryThe Operating Room Technician demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures and anticipates the surgeon's needs. The role requires dexterity in using instrumentation and knowledge of anatomy and physiology. The technician must be able to function in intra-operative situations and anticipate instrumentation/equipment for a wide range of surgical procedures.
Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain a sterile field
- Anticipate instrumentation/equipment for surgical procedures
- Display dexterity in using instrumentation
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Function in intra-operative situations
- Two years of operating room experience in an acute care facility
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
- Graduated from an accredited Operating Room Technician Program
- National Surgical Technician certification, recommended
- Current BLS-C certification (AHA)
