Central Sterile/Supply Technician

About the Role:

The Central Sterile/Supply Technician will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care by accurately performing quality control checks on instruments and equipment, and ensuring the sterilization of instruments and equipment meets the required standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Making rounds to ensure equipment is properly charged for usage
  • Maintaining all sterile or clean supplies and issuing them to nursing units on request
  • Understanding and demonstrating the difference in flashing techniques
  • Accurately decontaminating, assembling, and wrapping instruments and trays for sterilizations
  • Assembling a wide variety of instrument sets and keeping a log of missing instruments
  • Signing the instrument set list according to protocol, as assigned
  • Utilizing surgeon preference cards when setting up trays and prioritizing instrumentation needs based on the surgery schedule

Requirements:

  • One (1) year experience in a surgical department in an acute care facility preferred
  • Or completion of formal training in the field
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Sterile Processing certification or National Surgical Technician certification required
  • Certified Endoscope Reprocessor certification required within one year of employment
  • Current BLS obtained through AHA (American Heart Association)
