Responsibilities of an Environmental Services Associate:

Utilize cleaning equipment such as light mops, small ringers, dusters, vacuum cleaners, and other necessary tools, chemicals, and supplies to fulfill job responsibilities.

Execute specific cleaning duties, which include:

  • Dusting horizontal surfaces
  • Emptying waste receptacles and disposing of trash
  • Damp-wiping furniture
  • Cleaning and polishing metal and porcelain bathroom fixtures
  • Dry mopping and sanitizing floors in rooms and offices
  • Spot-cleaning walls and windows
  • Replenishing room supplies
  • Making beds
  • Sorting and distributing linens
Maintain assigned equipment in a clean condition and report any required repairs for equipment, furniture, buildings, and fixtures.
In the event of a fire or other emergency, assist in guiding ambulatory individuals to safety.
Comply with company policies, technical procedures, and safety regulations as communicated verbally or in writing.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications for Success:

High school diploma or GED is required. Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend service requests, container labels, product information, and instructions for cleaning chemicals and materials.

Familiarity with cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment; knowledge of safety practices related to the work environment is essential.
One to two years of experience in public sector cleaning (e.g., schools, hospitals) is preferred.
Certification as a Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (C.H.E.S.T.) is a plus.

Essential Skills and Abilities:
Ability to follow instructions, understand workplace rules and procedures, and accept constructive feedback.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Present a professional appearance and maintain a neat grooming standard while on duty.
While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively.
Specific vision capabilities required for this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Mobility to frequently alternate between sitting, standing, and moving throughout the facilities.

Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, use hands for handling, and navigate the facilities; may lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 lbs.

Ability to read and understand service requests, container labels, product information, and instructions for cleaning chemicals and materials.
Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
Working knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment.
