About the Position

Suffolk University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Communication, Journalism & Media Department. We are seeking a candidate who takes a critical approach to the study of media and journalism, with a focus on the current status, character, and social and political influence of news/journalism in a rapidly changing media environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach introductory and core classes in journalism, media, and communication, including Introduction to Communication, Journalism I, Introduction to Media, and Research Methods
  • Develop and teach upper-level classes in areas such as multi-platform journalism, news media and social conflict, social media and journalism, and news media coverage of marginalized communities
  • Contribute to the Core Curriculum by developing courses for the First Year Seminar program or disciplinary courses for non-major students
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students, and engage in service within the Department, College, and University

Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant field (Communication, Journalism, or a related field) by the beginning of the academic year
  • Experience teaching preferred
