- Maintain a clean and safe department by ensuring necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Report any hazardous conditions or equipment issues to the supervisor immediately.
- Assist in keeping food storage areas organized and clean at all times.
- Ensure food and supplies for upcoming meals are readily accessible.
- Dispose of food waste according to established policies.
- Notify the supervisor of any missing or unclear labels or safety data sheets.
- Support food preparation for special events and gatherings.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Working Environment:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may encounter various resident conditions and environmental factors. The noise level is moderate, and the employee must be able to detect odors, tolerate temperature variations, and frequently interact with water. Movement is required throughout working hours, and interruptions are common.
Interactions may occur with residents, staff, visitors, and regulatory personnel under various circumstances. The employee may deal with emotionally distressed residents and family members. Communication with medical and nursing staff, as well as other department supervisors, is essential. Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and temporary assignments, may be necessary. The employee may be called back during emergencies, such as severe weather or evacuations. Participation in ongoing educational programs is expected.
There is a risk of injury from falls, burns, and exposure to environmental contaminants. The employee may be exposed to infectious waste and diseases, including TB and viruses such as AIDS and Hepatitis B. Maintaining communication with other department supervisors is crucial for effective dietary service planning. Handling and exposure to hazardous chemicals may also be required.
