Qualifications and Educational Background

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Certification for teaching grades 6-12 in the relevant subject area (or actively pursuing certification) in Florida
  • Ability to achieve and maintain necessary certifications and endorsements by the specified deadlines
  • Valid Florida Driver's License
  • Proficient knowledge of the subject matter.
Preferred:

  • At least one year of teaching experience
  • Experience working with at-risk youth
  • Degree in Education

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development and Instruction:

  • Skilled in designing and aligning instruction to meet state standards
  • Employs both formal and informal assessments to track progress and tailor instruction to meet the individual needs of students
  • Plans effective classroom instruction utilizing innovative, suitable, and differentiated teaching methods
  • Establishes a safe and trusting classroom atmosphere that is gender-responsive, trauma-informed, and strength-based
  • Maintains appropriate behavioral standards to foster a conducive learning environment
Progress Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Develops, monitors, and revises Performance Monitoring Plan learning objectives, standards, and expectations in collaboration with students
  • Encourages confidence, perseverance, and accountability in students regarding their academic goals
  • Knowledgeable about Florida's graduation requirements and promotes readiness for higher education
  • Utilizes data to evaluate student progress and academic development, documenting outcomes in Pace
  • Collaborates with colleagues to achieve student, center, and district objectives
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
