Position Summary
The City of Manassas is currently seeking applications for our Aquatic Safety Officer positions at Stonewall Park Pool. This role offers an engaging opportunity to enhance your skills while ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors.
Key Responsibilities
The City of Manassas is in search of certified lifeguards or individuals eager to obtain certification.
The selected candidate will be responsible for monitoring and supervising swimmers; scanning the water; enforcing pool regulations; maintaining order within the facility; taking proactive safety measures; rescuing swimmers in distress; administering emergency first aid and CPR; and documenting incidents, injuries, and rescues as necessary.
Additionally, the role involves performing essential maintenance and cleaning tasks for the pool, deck, concessions, building, locker rooms, bathrooms, pump room, basement, and other related areas within the pool facilities.
It is essential to maintain a thorough understanding of relevant policies and procedures; stay informed about new methods, equipment, and trends in the field; participate in ongoing education and training activities; and attend meetings as required.
The candidate will also be responsible for reviewing various records and reports related to pool quality, weather conditions, swimmer safety, and overall patron safety.
Documentation responsibilities include preparing safety reports, incident reports, water quality tests, and timesheets.
Interaction with various stakeholders such as the Pool Manager, Neighborhood Services Supervisor, patrons, Head Lifeguard, and the general public is also a key aspect of this role.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age by the opening of the pool season. The incumbent will be required to possess and maintain the following certifications: Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid/AED.
Special Requirements
A swim test will be necessary to maintain employment with the City.
Employees are expected to work a combination of weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
A pre-employment physical, drug test, and background check are mandatory for selected candidates.
All employees must complete staff orientation.
