Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Specialist to join our team at West Fraser. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our lumber manufacturing process equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair industrial process equipment, including control panels and electrical systems
  • Conduct daily runtime predictive routes to identify potential issues and optimize equipment performance
  • Document and report potential job hazards and implement corrective actions to ensure a safe working environment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve safety, electrical, production, and quality goals
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Three years' experience in industrial electrical/controls, including troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing industrial process equipment
  • Experience reading and understanding schematics, technical documents, and blueprints
  • Ability to wire, test, and troubleshoot control panels integrated with PLCs, Variable Frequency Drives, and other Solid-state control devices
  • Ability to interpret control wiring schemes and replace, install, and relocate control circuits and components within an active industrial manufacturing process
  • Experience using electrical troubleshooting equipment and tools, such as multimeters
  • Experience using a computer to perform tasks such as email, data entry, and document creation
  • Ability to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Ability to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment
  • Ability to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or work in elevated areas
  • Ability to work in confined areas
Preferred Qualifications
  • Currently holding an electrician license
  • Experience with PLC, LADDER LOGIC, HMI, PANELVIEW, AND NFPA 70E
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Associate Degree in Instrument or Electrical/Electronic Technology with a minimum of 3 years related experience to the lumber manufacturing process
  • Experience in thermography with level 1 certification
