Georgetown University in Qatar is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Specialist to support the We the People: Civics that Empowers All Students (CEAS) research program funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
Job Summary:The Research Specialist will assist with tasks associated with grant-related research activities, including data collection, analysis, and reporting. The position will work closely with the principal investigator, Dr. Diana Owen, and other team members to ensure the successful completion of the research program.
Responsibilities:- Recruit schools and teachers to participate in the study
- Collect, collate, and analyze interview data
- Collect and analyze student media literacy data and written materials
- Analyze teacher and student survey data using statistical analysis
- Report on research findings and contribute to reports, articles, and other materials for dissemination
- Assist with the administration of the research program
- Master's degree or up to 2 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of education and work experience)
- Ability to supervise graduate and undergraduate research assistants
- Demonstrated ability to perform independently, communicate scientific results, and participate in a highly collaborative environment
- Strong work ethic and self-motivation to learn and become familiar with primary scientific literature
- Knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices, and methods, including those established by the U.S. Department of Education's What Works Clearinghouse (WWC)
- Computer literacy and strong statistical, analytical, and research skills
- Proficiency in managing data sets and analysis using SPSS
- Excellent written and verbal communication, time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail
This is a full-time position.
Pay Range:The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position is $41,000 - $65,090.00 per year.
Compensation is determined by a number of factors, including the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
