Position Overview

As a CAD and FEA Engineering Specialist within the GE Renewable Energy Power and Aviation sector, you will play a pivotal role in advancing research and development initiatives focused on structural design and analysis tailored for aerospace applications. Your expertise will be essential in generating and manipulating CAD models, creating finite element meshes, and preparing models for FEA and/or CFD analysis. Furthermore, you will be tasked with developing in-house tools and workflows to ensure compliance with design standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate finite element analysis meshes for intricate geometries, employing both commercial and proprietary tools.
  • Design and modify 3D CAD models in accordance with finite element analysis requirements.
  • Assist in design and analytical tasks utilizing both proprietary and commercial FEA solvers and databases.
  • Manage modeling workflows encompassing CAD, meshing, and analysis processes.
  • Collaborate effectively with project teams and business partners to achieve project milestones.
  • Engage in project and technical reviews, delivering comprehensive presentations and reports.
  • Provide specialized knowledge to address technical challenges and promote a cooperative team atmosphere.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in finite element meshing and CAD.
  • Familiarity with meshing and FEA software such as Altair Hypermesh and Ansys.
  • Expertise in parametric, feature-based geometric modeling using commercial CAD software.
  • Proficient in programming languages, particularly Python.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative environment and the ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience in design and optimization for additive manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in scripting and optimization within Ansys Workbench.
  • Familiarity with structural optimization codes and simulation techniques.
  • Understanding of product design constraints and manufacturing methodologies.
