Collaboration with payer, reimbursement, and patient service teams across our rare disease and ophthalmic sectors will be essential. This position is focused on individual contributions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal and external teams within the Value, Access, and Policy (VAP) division to implement educational strategies that align with the Commercial organization’s objectives.
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new hires and manage ongoing learning initiatives while innovating methods to enhance the educational experience for sustained improvement.
  • Work with critical internal stakeholders and external partners to develop training curricula and activities tailored for customer-facing teams.
  • Actively solicit feedback from key stakeholders, considering business needs and learning gaps to propose actionable recommendations for long-term success.
  • Establish strong, constructive relationships with business partners and cross-functional stakeholders to foster synergies and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Collaborate across departments and with other educational partners to design and deliver training materials for current and future products.
  • Coordinate with medical teams to ensure a smooth transfer of scientific and medical knowledge to commercial teams.
  • Manage the Promotional Review Committee (PRC) approval process for newly created training materials.
  • Ensure compliance of all training initiatives with Apellis values, codes of conduct, and relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Oversee all facets of the learning management system (LMS), developing initiatives that enhance structure, scalability, and long-term functionality.
  • Create and present educational content for events such as Product Launches, National Sales Meetings, and other business initiatives.
  • Assist the Director of Commercial Learning in achieving departmental goals and objectives, identifying knowledge and skills gaps, proposing solutions, and building capabilities over time.

Education and Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree is required.

Experience:

  • 7+ years in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, with at least 1-2 years in a training and learning role based at headquarters.
  • Preferred experience in market access roles, including field reimbursement, payer, or contracting account management.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the market access landscape, account management, reimbursement processes, customer behaviors, and adult learning methodologies.
  • Proven track record in delivering a comprehensive learning process, including curriculum design, development, and facilitation.
  • Strong commitment to understanding and advocating for the needs of field teams to enhance customer impact and team satisfaction.
  • Driven to contribute to the development of a global learning infrastructure that meets both immediate and long-term needs.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment while managing ambiguity.
  • Dedication to collaboration and engagement, with a successful history of working within a matrix organization and with vendor partners.

Travel Requirements:

Limited domestic travel is anticipated, approximately 35% for field visits and meetings.
