Job Purpose and Focus:
Under the direct oversight of the school principal, the role involves delivering an educational program tailored for elementary students. The position emphasizes effective leadership to foster a positive learning atmosphere while highlighting the significance of academic success. The educator is expected to exemplify high standards of ethics, professionalism, and interpersonal relations, serving as a constructive role model for all students.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Valid teaching certification relevant to the position with supporting transcripts
  • Meets the criteria for being highly qualified as defined by state standards
  • Understanding of educational principles and methodologies for curriculum design, teaching, and assessment
  • Proficient in the structure and content of the English language, including vocabulary, composition rules, and grammar

Essential Functions and Representative Duties:
  • Arrange the classroom to create an effective teaching and learning environment
  • Set clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these to students
  • Provide instruction to students individually and in groups, utilizing various teaching strategies such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations
  • Design, administer, and evaluate tests and assignments to assess student progress
  • Modify teaching methods and instructional materials to accommodate diverse student needs and interests
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and schedule lessons that promote learning, adhering to approved curricula
  • Engage with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to address students' behavioral and academic challenges
  • Implement and uphold administrative policies and regulations governing student conduct
  • Guide and supervise students in the proper use and care of equipment and materials to prevent accidents and damage
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive student records as mandated by laws and district policies
  • Participate in discussions with other professionals regarding individual student needs and progress
  • Meet with parents and guardians to review their children's progress and identify their priorities and resource needs
  • Observe and assess student performance
  • Plan and conduct activities that balance instruction, demonstration, and work time, allowing students to explore, question, and investigate
  • Organize and oversee class projects, field trips, guest speaker visits, and other experiential learning activities
  • Prepare materials and the classroom for instructional activities
  • Compile reports on student performance and activities as required by administration
  • Provide a variety of materials and resources for students to explore and utilize in learning and imaginative play
  • Supervise, evaluate, and assign tasks to teacher assistants and volunteers
  • Administer standardized assessments and interpret results to identify student strengths and areas for improvement
  • Attend and actively engage in professional meetings, educational conferences, and training workshops to enhance professional skills
  • Collaborate with fellow educators and administrators in the development, evaluation, and refinement of elementary school programs
  • Assist in various school duties such as library support, monitoring hallways and cafeterias, and overseeing student loading and unloading
  • Provide assistance to students with disabilities through the use of adaptive devices and supportive technology
  • Select, store, order, and inventory classroom supplies and materials
  • Support extracurricular initiatives such as clubs, student organizations, and academic competitions
  • Incorporate technology and resources to enhance instruction
  • Assist in developing unit and lesson plans aligned with district curriculum, pacing guides, state benchmarks, and national standards
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, prepare reports, and communicate findings with families
  • Collaborate with other professionals to best address student needs
  • In conjunction with the principal, select and procure instructional supplies and resources
  • Engage in ongoing professional development
  • Supervise students in various settings, both inside and outside the classroom
  • Prepare detailed lesson plans for substitute teachers
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Terms of Employment:
Compensation and benefits are outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Board of Education.

Work Environment:
The role requires adaptability to varying levels of noise and activity. Flexibility and patience are essential. The educator must be self-motivated and capable of completing tasks without direct supervision while working towards district objectives.
