Position Overview:

The Tactical Networks Group is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge network and communication systems, specifically tailored for tactical mobile and military airborne applications.

Utilizing a blend of technical analysis, modeling, simulation, emulation, prototype development, and flight evaluation, we aim to innovate new communication systems while assessing their performance under various conditions.


Role Description:

This role focuses on a field test software engineer responsible for the integration and operation of mission test infrastructure systems during demonstration events.

The engineer will also be tasked with integrating and maintaining both hardware and software systems, automating the dissemination and collection of experimental data, and integrating hardware-based avionics systems.

While this position does involve some coding and programming, the primary emphasis is on software integration and test integration.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Integrating various systems and pulling data for reporting purposes.
  • Creating visual dashboards for effective data reporting.

Essential Skills:
  • Experience in operating and maintaining field test infrastructure, particularly avionics systems.
  • Proficiency in developing software-based automation techniques for live and post-experiment data capture, dissemination, and visualization.
  • Ability to secure and maintain the security posture for field systems.
  • 8+ years of software programming experience, with a strong focus on C/C++ and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with at least two or three of the following programming/scripting languages: JAVA, Golang, PERL, TCL/TK, KML, GeoJSON, HTML5, Google Earth, Cesium/CZML.
  • 8+ years of experience with data collection and analysis software, preferably Grafana and InfluxDB.
  • Significant experience in integrating software systems with military and avionics standards such as Link 16, TTNT, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429, and DoD SATCOM.
  • Experience in integrating commercial SATCOM systems with military and avionics networks.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience with PQube power monitoring system data collection and analysis.
  • Software development experience for tracking moving objects on mapping applications like Google Earth.
  • Knowledge of ASTI-Internal Communications Systems, ARINC distribution systems, and GPS devices.
  • Familiarity with LN100, LTN-92, MIL-STD-1553, and ARINC-429 protocols.
  • Experience with RTX ARINC-429 Analyzer.
  • Understanding of ISSO Duties with COMSEC Clearance.
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a Class III FAA medical certificate.

Additional Information:

This position requires 100% onsite presence at the Lab. Candidates should be local and able to work fully onsite. An interim clearance is sufficient to start.
