About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team at the University of Minnesota's Veterinary Medical Center. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in assisting our clinicians and hospital staff in the preparation and dispensing of medication to patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Preparation: Prepare prescriptions medications for all inpatient and outpatient clients in a timely and accurate manner per request from licensed veterinarians.
  • Communication and Customer Service: Communicate with and assist other hospital staff members and clients in person, on the phone, and through email.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain appropriate records of perpetual inventory log for controlled substances, including stocking and managing inventory of the hospital automated dispensing cabinets.
  • Training and Development: Complete annual training and maintain proper technique for compounding sterile and non-sterile drug manipulation in accordance with USP 795, USP 797, and USP 800.
  • Environmental Maintenance: Maintain a clean working environment in the dispensary and equipment, and stocking supplies as needed.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3 months experience in a pharmacy or veterinary setting handling medications.
  • Qualifications: Strong customer relations and communication skills, including knowledge of general pharmacy operations. Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
  • Certifications: Must not have been convicted within the past 5 years of a felony or within the past 2 years of any crimes associated with the unauthorized use of controlled substances.
