Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mainframe Application Engineer to join our team at Mindlance. This role focuses on the Payment Transaction Settlement domain, where you will engage with various PTS application platforms. Your primary responsibility will be to provide comprehensive system and application support within a mainframe environment, ensuring seamless end-to-end application delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and develop program logic for new applications, as well as modify existing application logic.
  • Conduct performance tuning and testing of mainframe code, troubleshoot performance issues, and prepare code for deployment while completing essential Waterfall SDLC documentation.
  • Write and analyze new application software, including online and batch applications that facilitate credit and debit card processing.
  • Modify COBOL programs to manage data processing for merchant funding and billing, as well as clearing to associations.
  • Perform unit testing on program changes utilizing IDMS, DB2, JCL, PROCs, and testing VSAM and flat files.
  • Provide insights for the development of new code or the reuse of existing code.
  • Develop tailored solutions within the platform to support critical business functions and achieve project objectives.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Project Managers, and IT resources to ensure project success.
  • Consult with users to define software or system functional specifications.
  • Participate in meetings to review business requirements documentation.
  • Design and develop computer systems or programs based on user-defined requirements.
  • Create high-level and detailed design documents supporting credit and debit card processing initiatives.
  • Present design documents to stakeholders for approval via virtual meetings.
  • Lead the development of mainframe applications across various PTS platforms.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship for project teams.
  • Deliver project documentation, including HLD, DDD, timelines, and implementation plans to project managers.
  • Adhere to established standards and consult with senior management on technology solutions.
  • Assign resources and delegate tasks to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to address application issues, including job abends.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 6 years of applicable experience.
  • 8 years of mainframe experience with IBM JCL, CA7, COBOL, REXX, EasyTrieve, VSAM, IDMS, and related utilities.
  • Experience in merchant acquiring systems and settlement balancing.
  • Familiarity with the Waterfall Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree and/or relevant technology certifications.
  • Experience in credit and debit card international processing and integration services.
  • Knowledge of settlement, interchange, and authorization processes for application modifications.
  • Understanding of Merchant Acquirer Information Security concepts.
  • Functional-technical knowledge of payment authorization and fraud detection systems.
  • Experience with payment e-commerce systems and payment processors.
