Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated professional to ensure compliance with established standards while developing high-performance, scalable Java applications that operate on zOS and seamlessly integrate with existing mainframe systems. This role involves collaboration with project teams and functional units on the design of critical projects or services, as well as providing support for current business systems applications. Additional responsibilities include participating in 7x24 on-call system support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop complex Java applications that meet low latency, high throughput, and multi-threading requirements.
  • Create Java web applications (RESTful APIs using JAX-RS) utilizing JAVA, J2EE, EJB, Java Transaction, and JPA.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Java application containers.
  • Work with Angular, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Possess expertise in Java internals, including garbage collection, application tuning, and Java dump analysis.
  • Experience with running Java on IBM mainframe systems is advantageous.
  • Utilize Java build tools effectively.
  • Employ Java testing tools for code validation.
  • Proficient in DevOps tools as part of the software development lifecycle.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving, analytical, troubleshooting, and issue resolution skills.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Be available for production support and on-call assistance as needed.
  • Familiarity with IBM mainframe technologies such as CICS, MVS, ISPF, VSAM, DB2, and MQ is a plus.
  • Understanding of IBM mainframe platforms, including LPARs, SYSPLEX, CICSPlex, CEC, CPU types, and USS environment is beneficial.
  • Shell scripting experience is an additional asset.
Candidate Qualifications:
  • Proficient in multiple programming languages and tools, with some knowledge of emerging technologies (cloud).
  • Strong understanding of application development technologies, tools, and methodologies.
