Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Business Operations Manager to join our team at Montana State University. The successful candidate will provide high-level administrative and management support to the Department of Agricultural Economics and Economics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as Executive Assistant to the Department Head, providing administrative support and coordinating departmental operations.
  • Oversee faculty retention, tenure, and promotion processes, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures.
  • Arrange logistics for events, conferences, and lectures, including participating in events as on-site staff.
  • Serve as the primary departmental liaison with Deans' and Director's office, providing backup support for Dean's office BOM.
  • Process documents and perform search support duties for all aspects of recruitment and hiring of professional employees, faculty, and classified staff.
  • Ensure DAEE employees are paid in a timely manner and work to solve payroll-related discrepancies.
  • Communicate relevant changes in personnel and process, and ensure annual evaluations are completed for all applicable employees.
  • Supervise the DAEE Administrative Associate III and Program Coordinator II classified staff positions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and progressively responsible administrative experience with an emphasis on customer service in a main office setting or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated experience organizing and prioritizing multiple work assignments, meeting deadlines, and exercising adaptability with close attention to detail, while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with experience formatting professional documents.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Experience working in an academic department in a higher education setting.
