POSITION SUMMARY
Under general oversight, engage in specific components of a larger engineering challenge. The Clinical Systems Engineer for Rehabilitation will collaborate within a multidisciplinary research and development team focused on the design and exploration of innovative Class III medical devices aimed at restoring motor and sensory functions in the upper limb.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This role entails providing both technical and administrative assistance to clinical research initiatives, working closely with various project team members, including principal investigators, clinicians, study coordinators, and regulatory specialists.

  • Technical Support: Contribute to complex scientific and research projects in your area of expertise; analyze data, oversee experimental processes, and develop prototypes and specialized systems. Assist team members in designing and executing research protocols and experiments.
  • Laboratory Management: Maintain and support laboratory hardware and supply systems. Manage inventory and coordinate routine maintenance of laboratory equipment, ensuring the procurement of necessary tools and technologies.
  • Data Management: Apply analytical methods to assess data accuracy, assist project managers with data management efforts, and collaborate with IT staff to ensure data security and integrity.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Aid in maintaining laboratory records and preparing technical progress reports. Develop and update standard operating procedures to enhance laboratory efficiency.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Perform other related responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: 0 to 2 years in a professional engineering capacity.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree in engineering management or a similar discipline is preferred.


REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Familiarity with concepts and practices in neural engineering.
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant regulations and standards in medical technology development.
  • Effective communication skills for conveying technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Capability to operate specialized laboratory equipment.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
General laboratory setting with potential exposure to hazards. The role primarily involves computer-based tasks, requiring significant time at a desk. Occasional travel to partner institutions may be necessary for collaboration with clinical research teams.
