Survey Crew Chief

VS Engineering is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Survey Crew Chief to lead our survey operations team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and quality control of survey projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead and manage survey crews performing topographic, construction staking, boundary surveys, and control surveys using conventional and GPS techniques.
- Manage survey projects, meeting deadlines and budgets, and ensuring quality control and accuracy.
- Perform office calculations and support field survey crews for construction staking.
- Provide analysis and final map checking and record drawings research.
- Conduct QA/QC of engineering parcels and route survey plats.
- Establish and maintain quality control procedures on survey operations.
- Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent, Associate's degree (preferred) or equivalent in land survey, design technology, engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of surveying experience.
- Background in survey, right of way, site development, transportation, construction staking, construction experience, and/or other municipal operations.
- Technical knowledge/computer skills: AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation/Bentley OpenRoads or InRoads, GPS, LiDAR, Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
- Thorough understanding of codes, legal, and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
- Capable of solving complex problems using professional judgment, creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Attention to detail/quality-oriented.
- Service-oriented demeanor.
- Follows directions/eagerness to learn.
- Ability to work outdoors and in inclement weather.
- Must possess a valid driver's license as travel may be required to serve the project.
