Job Summary

The Assistant Coach position is responsible for supporting the Head Coach in organizing and leading the Baseball program at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School. This role involves assisting with practice planning, motivating student athletes, and instructing them in game strategies and techniques.

Essential Duties
  • Assist the Head Coach in instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  • Organize and direct individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the Head Coach.
  • Assess player skills, monitor players during competition and practice, and keep the Head Coach informed of athletic performance.
  • Assist with determining game strategy.
  • Supervise athletes during practices and competition.
  • Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
  • Maintain the equipment room in orderly condition and assume responsibility for its security.
  • Distribute equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the Head Coach.
  • Assist the Head Coach with submitting a list of award winners at the end of the season.
  • Participate in special activities, including parent's night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
  • Perform support tasks, such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records.
  • Participate in the formation of the Christian faith with athletes under your supervision, prioritizing prayer, team mass, and the school's missions.
Other Duties
  • Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and Principal or other appropriate administrator.
  • Possibly assist with transporting athletes using our vans.
