Cupertino, California, United States Apple Full time

Overview:

Role Identifier:

Engineering Project Managers (EPMs) play a pivotal role in Apple's ability to provide exceptional customer experiences across its extensive ecosystem.

We facilitate collaboration across various departments, empowering teams to achieve more collectively than they could individually, thus broadening the scope of our capabilities as an organization.

The Tools & Frameworks team is dedicated to developing the next generation of products, services, and tools that will enable developers, both within and outside of Apple, to maximize their creativity and efficiency.

We seek a seasoned, enthusiastic, and driven individual with a strong technical curiosity and a genuine passion for managing complex, cross-departmental projects in a dynamic environment.

In this role, you will work closely with software engineering leaders focused on enhancing developer productivity, ensuring strategic alignment on objectives, priorities, and execution across multiple teams.

You will also oversee significant cross-departmental projects that span these teams. Your responsibilities will include project planning, monitoring, execution, and reporting, along with managing service qualification, deployment, and operations.

You will proactively identify, prioritize, and resolve program challenges by presenting new feature initiatives, critical issues, risks, and significant accomplishments to executive leadership.

The ideal candidate will possess outstanding communication and organizational skills, a comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle, and substantial experience managing a cloud service from inception to completion.

Agile planning for large-scale projects is essential, as is the ability to think quickly to address challenges while serving as the central point of contact among teams.

Familiarity with computer architecture components and operating systems, as well as build engineering and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CICD) processes, is advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
Developing and maintaining comprehensive project plans, schedules, and status documentation for our initiatives.
Facilitating collaboration among extensive cross-functional stakeholder groups.
Acting as a liaison to relay information regarding requirements, changes, milestones achieved, and other relevant details.
Presenting and communicating new feature initiatives, critical issues, risks, and significant accomplishments to executive leadership.
Focusing on critical path deliverables and tracking the execution of dependencies.
Coordinating complex and highly interdependent changes through our build and integration systems.
Proactively identifying risks to software delivery, formulating mitigation strategies, and facilitating resolutions.

Minimum Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience in program or project management within software development.
Knowledge of software engineering best practices and related dependencies.
Strong leadership abilities, including the capacity to build trusting relationships and influence others.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to various audiences.
Strong organizational and multitasking capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in software development management, software engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
Experience in Build and Release Engineering / Release Management.
Project Management experience throughout the software development lifecycle.
Understanding of software build pipelines, merging, testing systems and methods, and code delivery.
Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery analytics (preferably Splunk/Tableau).
Knowledge of operating system internals and architecture skills and experience.

Compensation & Benefits:
At Apple, base pay is one component of our overall compensation package and is determined within a specified range.

This provides opportunities for growth and development within the role.

The base pay range for this position is between $136,300 and $248,700, with your base pay depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the chance to become shareholders through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.

Employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if they voluntarily participate in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

Additional Benefits:

Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a variety of discounted products and free services, and reimbursement for certain educational expenses related to career advancement at Apple, including tuition.

Furthermore, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments as well as relocation assistance. Learn more about Apple Benefits.
