Job Summary

The Assistant Activity Director is a key member of the Alden Group Homes team, responsible for delivering high-quality activity and recreational programs to our residents. This role reports directly to the Activity Director and works closely with the Corporate Coordinator of the Social Services Program and the Director of Operations of Clinical Programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Activity Planning and Implementation: Assist in planning, developing, and organizing activity programs that meet the needs and interests of our residents.
  • Staff Supervision and Guidance: Provide guidance and support to staff members in therapeutic approaches and activity programming.
  • Resident Assessment and Care Planning: Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to develop and implement person-centered activity plans that meet the unique needs of each resident.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of resident activity participation, progress, and outcomes.
  • Volunteer Management: Develop and manage a volunteer program that supports the activity department and enhances resident engagement.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Hold a high school education or equivalent, with three years of experience in group and individual activity programming.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff.
  • Physical Demands: Be able to push, pull, or carry 50 pounds, and move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Certifications and Training: Possess a valid driver's license and be willing to drive the facility bus for outings and appointments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education and Certifications: Associate's or bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Education, Social Services, or equivalent.
  • Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Possess knowledge and skills in activity programming, therapeutic approaches, and volunteer management.
