We are seeking a skilled Health Claims Specialist to join our team at the Lower Eastside Service Center. As a Health Claims Specialist, you will be responsible for processing routine Institutional and Professional claims, investigating pending claims, resolving discrepancies, and reviewing insurance coverage.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare, review, and transmit primary, secondary claims, and claim corrections using billing software.
- Knowledge of Behavioral Health billing processes and coding, including CPT, HCPCS, and ICD10.
- Identify the cause of any discrepancy in payments and submit claim corrections.
- Follow up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle timeframe.
- Check eligibility and benefits verification for services rendered and identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances.
- Maintain patient confidentiality as per the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.
- Assist Accounts Receivable Specialist with additional tasks as needed.
- Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
- Healthcare background (one to two years) preferred.
