Trauma Data Specialist

Howard University Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Trauma Registrar to join our team. As a Trauma Registrar, you will play a critical role in collecting and maintaining accurate and reliable data on trauma patients.
Key Responsibilities:- Collect and enter disease-specific data into the Trauma Registry, ensuring high-quality data that can be analyzed to improve patient care.
- Assist the Trauma Division in performance improvement and patient safety initiatives by running reports and identifying variations in care and outcomes.
- Collect and maintain statistical data for the hospital's trauma services, including the Trauma Registry.
- Generate standard and custom reports in a timely fashion to support decision-making and quality improvement efforts.
- Represent the Trauma Service at multidisciplinary meetings and survey activities.
- Review and evaluate software for trauma registry activities, ensuring compatibility with existing systems and adherence to trauma service protocols.
- Orient division personnel on the use of trauma service computer software and ensure proper use of operating system commands and procedures.
- Participate in the establishment and implementation of the trauma services budget.
- Investigate incidents and problems related to the Trauma Registry.
- Assess daily admission procedures for trauma patients to ensure proper identification and initiation of trauma protocols.
- Participate in activities to enhance technical and professional growth.
- Promote adherence to the Health Sciences Compliance Program, the Howard University Code of Ethics, and the Health Sciences Standards of Conduct.
- Bachelor's degree in Health Services Management or a related healthcare field preferred.
- Completed the American Trauma Society's Trauma Registrar Course or equivalent provided by a state trauma program.
- 2 years of experience in data entry, emergency, trauma, or critical care settings.
