Trauma Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Trauma Nurse Specialist to join our Level I Trauma Center - Emergency Department team at The George Washington University Hospital. As a critical member of our multidisciplinary trauma care team, you will provide expert clinical care, education, and leadership to ensure seamless patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, triage, and provide advanced nursing care to trauma patients in the Emergency Department.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary trauma team, including physicians, surgeons, and respiratory therapists, to ensure seamless patient care.
- Act as a leader during trauma activations, facilitating communication and coordinating interventions.
- Develop and deliver trauma education programs for ED staff, including trauma simulations and drills.
- Participate in trauma research initiatives and quality improvement projects to enhance patient outcomes.
- Advocate for the needs of trauma patients and their families, providing emotional support and guidance.
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the District of Columbia, or DC endorsement eligible.
- Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department nursing experience in a Level I or II Trauma Center.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
- Certification in TNCC or ATCN is required.
- Obtain TNCC or ATCN instructor status within 6 months of hire.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to thrive in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to ethical and legal standards in trauma care.
