At Accel at Willow Bend in Plano, TX, we are seeking a dedicated Cook who is enthusiastic about preparing high-quality meals for our residents. This role is an excellent opportunity for those with experience in culinary arts, particularly in settings focused on rehabilitative care.

The Cook will be responsible for preparing meals according to established menus and specifications, adhering to facility protocols, and following dietary and sanitary regulations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Following recipes and ensuring proper food storage and supply management.
  • Supervising meal service provided by wait staff.
  • Directing and assisting in the cleaning of work areas, equipment, and floors.
  • Ensuring all residents receive their meals and that fire and safety protocols are strictly observed.

Key Responsibilities

Food Safety and Hygiene

  • Adhere to guidelines for food handling and storage, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Conduct daily checks of food temperatures and storage areas, addressing any discrepancies.
  • Implement proper handwashing and hygiene practices among staff.
  • Follow established infection control protocols and use protective gear as required.

Meal Preparation

  • Utilize standardized recipes to prepare meals in specified quantities, accommodating special dietary needs.
  • Employ tools and resources to ensure timely meal production and portion control.
  • Maintain the quality, temperature, and presentation of food served.

General Kitchen Duties

  • Serve meals according to facility standards, ensuring proper portioning and presentation.
  • Perform regular cleaning of kitchen areas and equipment to maintain sanitation.
  • Organize food storage areas and manage leftovers appropriately.
  • Assist other staff as needed to ensure efficient kitchen operations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of experience as a cook in a relevant setting preferred.
  • Food handlers' card or Food Safety Certification as required by local regulations.
  • Understanding of sanitation and personal hygiene practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and residents.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential.
