Job Summary

Boulder Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a customer service-oriented individual to join our OB/GYN team as a Medical Receptionist. This full-time position is benefit-eligible and requires a 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, at our Longmont Clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer phone calls promptly, evaluating patient needs to determine appointment type.
  • Summarize appointment details before ending the call.
  • Manage phone functionalities, including transfers, holds, and forwarding to the after-hours message system.
  • Accurately record patient information, using correct spelling and punctuation.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments according to provider preference and scheduling protocol.
  • Navigate and operate the Electronic Medical Records system, preparing patients for appointments and inputting relevant information as needed.
  • Exercise good judgment, professionalism, and discretion when screening calls, answering inquiries, and relaying information.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain phone etiquette, using tact and diplomacy.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills are required.
  • Must possess strong grammar and spelling ability, as well as the ability to read, write, and understand the English language.
  • A neat, well-groomed appearance and courteous manner are necessary.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA compliance is preferred.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associates Degree or some college coursework in Business or Healthcare Administration is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of previous work experience involving public contact, preferably with heavy phone experience.
  • Previous experience with patient scheduling in a hospital or clinic setting is preferred.
  • Bilingual ability (Spanish) is a plus.
Compensation

The starting hourly pay range for this position is commensurate with experience: $21.70/hour (full pay range is $25.03).

This position will be posted for a minimum of three days and subsequently until filled.
