Job Summary

The Manufacturing Manager at CleanMark Labels is responsible for leading the entire production and purchasing process, ensuring operational efficiency, product quality, and timely delivery across all product lines.

This role oversees a dynamic production team, promoting Lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and drive continuous improvement.

As a hands-on leader, you will foster a high-engagement work environment, mentoring employees and reducing turnover while ensuring the team consistently meets performance goals.

Your ability to adapt to ever-changing environments, manage resources effectively, and maintain stringent quality standards will ensure CleanMark's products meet the highest levels of industry expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee Manufacturing Operations: Manage and coordinate all aspects of the production process to ensure efficient, high-quality output and timely delivery of products.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Lead implementation of Lean manufacturing principles, focusing on eliminating waste, optimizing workflows, and improving overall operational efficiency.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Foster a high-engagement work environment by mentoring and developing team members, reducing turnover, and building a loyal, committed workforce.
  • Ensure Quality Control: Maintain stringent quality standards and ensure that all products meet CleanMark's requirements and customer expectations.
  • Adapt to Changing Environments: Lead the team through dynamic and ever-changing production demands, employing flexible strategies to meet operational goals.
  • Resource Management: Ensure the optimal use of materials, equipment, and labor, and work to resolve any resource barriers that could impact productivity.
  • Set and Monitor Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor production efficiency, quality, and team performance, ensuring targets are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Promote Safety & Compliance: Ensure all safety protocols and regulatory requirements are followed to create a safe working environment for the production team.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with engineering, quality assurance, procurement, and customer success teams to align production with business goals and customer requirements.
  • Cost Management: Monitor and control production costs to ensure budgetary goals are met while maintaining quality and efficiency.
  • Foster a Culture of Innovation: Encourage creativity and problem-solving within the team, driving innovations in processes, materials, and technology to enhance product offerings.
  • Performance Management: Conduct regular team evaluations, providing feedback and support to help employees achieve their goals and improve performance.
  • Purchasing & Production Scheduling: Ensure timely procurement and effective production scheduling to optimize cash flow and prevent delays caused by supply chain disruptions.
Key Performance Indicators
  • OTIF: The percentage of product shipments that are shipped to customers on-time and in-full.
  • RMAs: The amount of customer returned product.
  • Lead Time: The average amount of days it takes between purchase order requested date and shipment of product.
  • Use of Time: The percentage of team time spent on job, and the amount of jobs completed within budgeted time.
  • Use of Material: The difference between planned and actual material usage.
  • Inventory Count Discrepancy: The difference between pre and post count inventory value.
  • Inventory Turnover: The rate that inventory stock is sold, or used, and replaced.
  • Team Skill Badges Earned & Used: The amount of badges team members earn, and the amount of time the team works in different stations related to those badges.
  • Safety Incidents: The amount of safety incidents that happen in the shop or warehouse.
  • Process Improvements Implemented: Changes put in place in order to optimize the company's processes and achieve better outcomes as it relates to other lagging KPIs.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing management or supervisory role, preferably within the labeling, packaging, or a related high-tech/regulated industry.
  • Leadership & Team Management:
    • Proven track record of leading and developing teams in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
    • Strong mentorship skills, with a focus on fostering engagement, reducing turnover, and building a high-performance, loyal workforce.
  • Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement:
    • Expertise in Lean manufacturing principles, Theory of Constraints, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies. Green or Black Belt certification is a plus.
    • Demonstrated ability to eliminate waste, streamline processes, and drive operational efficiencies.
  • Problem Solving & Adaptability:
    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and implement flexible solutions in fast-paced, evolving manufacturing environments.
  • Operational Efficiency & Resource Management:
    • Experience managing production schedules, optimizing resource utilization, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.
    • Proficient in managing production costs, with a focus on cost control and budget adherence.
  • Technical & Industry Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with manufacturing technologies, machinery, and production processes relevant to label manufacturing or similar industries.
    • Knowledge of quality control standards and regulatory requirements in high-tech, pharmaceutical, or medical device sectors is highly desirable.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Strong understanding of workplace safety regulations and compliance standards.
    • Experience creating and maintaining a safety-first culture in the workplace.
  • Interpersonal & Communication Skills:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and present ideas clearly to different stakeholders.
    • Strong team engagement and conflict resolution skills, with a capacity to inspire and motivate employees through personal leadership.
  • Performance & KPI Management:
    • Experience setting and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, quality, and team performance.
    • Data-driven mindset, with the ability to analyze metrics and implement changes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Technical Software Proficiency:
    • Proficiency in using manufacturing and production management software (e.g., ERP systems, MRP systems, Microsoft Office Suite).
    • Familiarity with data analytics tools for tracking and optimizing manufacturing performance is a plus.
