Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Supervisor to oversee daily activities of phlebotomists and ensure exceptional patient care and satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in phlebotomy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead and motivate a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily activities of phlebotomists, focusing on patient care and satisfaction.
  • Serve as a resource to phlebotomy staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure phlebotomists are proficient in venipuncture skills and blood collection procedures.
  • Assist with candidate selection, conducting interviews and identifying suitable candidates for management approval.
  • Coordinate new hire onboarding, ensuring timely completion of regulatory documentation and providing guidance and training to new employees.
  • Manage workflow across locations, ensuring timely and accurate collection of specimens.
  • Serve as a technical expert for all collection procedures, assisting with difficult draws and providing guidance to phlebotomists.
  • Communicate schedule changes and updates to staff, ensuring seamless coverage and efficient operations.
  • Maintain competency in registration and order entry, training others to perform these tasks with minimal errors.
  • Create and maintain employee files in accordance with CLIA and CAP standards.
  • Perform performance evaluations, counseling employees on feedback provided by laboratory management and physician offices.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of site-specific lab manuals and procedures.
  • Recommend policy changes and communicate policy updates to staff.
  • Support Laboratory Information System software changes and assist with payroll, reviewing weekly entered hours and monitoring overtime.
  • Promote teamwork and participate in process improvement initiatives as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School diploma and a certificate/diploma from an accredited phlebotomy-training program.
  • National certification (ASCP, ASPT, etc.) preferred.
  • Able and willing to commute to various locations each day (reliable transportation).
  • Professional communication and presentation skills.
  • Prior Team Lead or Supervision experience is a plus.
  • Complete a successful background check and drug screen.
