Key Responsibilities for the Mechanic Role

  • Executing Federal FHWA Preventive Maintenance Inspections on trailer and tractor units, along with comprehensive repairs across all aspects of tractor and trailer maintenance, including bodywork, frame, suspension, electrical systems, valves, and air systems.
  • Conducting HazMat Inspections on tank trailers.
  • Performing preventive maintenance services and general vehicle repairs.
  • Repairs may involve welding tasks.
  • Utilizing a yard hostler truck to maneuver trailers within the facility yard and shop as required.

Qualifications for the Mechanic Role

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the repair and servicing of trailers and medium-duty trucks.
  • Proficient knowledge of diesel engines, as well as air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • High School diploma is mandatory.
  • ASE certification is not required but is highly regarded.
  • Capability to utilize vehicle diagnostic software.

Hourly Compensation as per Union Agreement

Mechanic I Rate: $25.00 / hour

Mechanic II Rate: $27.50 / hour

Mechanic III Rate: $30.00 / hour

Experience Required

  • 2 - 3 years: Repairing Tanker Trailers
  • 2 years: Proficiency in using diagnostic software
  • 2 years: Preventive Maintenance on Trailers / Tractors

Education Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent
