About the Role

In this critical position at the Alabama Department of Education, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the safety and education of students across the state. As a School Bus Trainer, your primary responsibility will be to design and deliver comprehensive training programs for new and experienced school bus drivers.

Responsibilities
  1. Plan, develop, and implement engaging and informative training sessions for school bus drivers.
  2. Work closely with the Director of Operations for Transportation to create in-service programs that cater to the needs of both drivers and aides.
  3. Provide expert guidance on student behavior management techniques and other essential skills for school bus drivers.
  4. Operate buses safely and efficiently, transporting students when necessary.
  5. Compile and maintain accurate records of bus driver training and performance metrics.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid Alabama bus driver license (BDL) and commercial driver's license (CDL) with P/S endorsements.
  • At least two years of school bus driving experience.
  • ALEA School Bus Trainer Certification.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Estimated Salary Range

$55,000 - $65,000 per year, based on qualifications and experience.
