About the Team:

The Pricing Systems Team plays a vital role within Voiceflow's Commerce Organization. Our objective is to refine pricing strategies and cost management through advanced systems, ensuring precise pricing for all Voiceflow services while effectively managing associated expenses. We are responsible for the development and maintenance of two key systems: a machine learning-driven solution that optimizes sale prices based on historical data and market dynamics, and a rule-based system that governs how charges are applied to quotes and transactions, ensuring fairness and accuracy.

By maximizing revenue and strategically overseeing charges, our team significantly contributes to Voiceflow's financial health and sustainable growth. The efforts of the Pricing Team are essential in maintaining Voiceflow's competitive advantage, delivering value to our clients while achieving our organizational goals.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and product managers to translate complex business challenges into elegant technical solutions.
  • Assist in formulating a technical vision and roadmap in partnership with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, and leadership.
  • Develop highly available, secure, and distributed systems within a microservices architecture.
  • Address intricate system-level challenges, focusing on simplicity and durable designs. As we transition services from a monolithic structure, we take pride in refining legacy code and rebuilding with composability in mind.
  • Guide and mentor engineers, fostering a structured onboarding process and ongoing development within the team.
  • Promote a culture of quality and reliability, utilizing metrics and post-mortems to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Proven experience in architecting and building complex, enterprise-grade systems in a multi-tiered, distributed environment.
  • A willingness to expand your technical toolkit. We welcome diverse backgrounds, but our platform utilizes technologies such as AWS, Kotlin, Java, and Ruby.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience leading a team of engineers and guiding them through complex technical decision-making processes.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts in accessible terms to business partners, product managers, designers, and engineers.
  • Experience navigating ambiguity and working in early-stage product development phases.
  • A significant role in mentoring and developing others, actively sharing knowledge within the software engineering community regarding trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Commitment to maintaining high-quality products by anticipating issues, focusing on metrics, and applying insights from post-mortems to all services.
  • A passion for voice technology and its applications.

The salary range for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries across all US locations. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
