We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Radar/EW/EO/IR System Engineer to join our team at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a technical leader, you will play a critical role in fielding next-generation Navy Radar/EO/IR and Electronic Warfare systems and land-based sensor networks.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and collaborate with teams of sensor engineers, software developers, combat system engineers, and physicists to analyze live tactical sensor data and identify solutions to complex problems.
- Apply technical skills to develop novel algorithms and modeling and simulation (M&S) capabilities to support the development of advanced sensor systems.
- Investigate and address problems due to emergent phenomenology and lead teams of radar, combat system, and missile engineers to develop solutions.
- Advise and guide the strategic direction of analysis capabilities for our group and the programs it supports.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent technical field with at least 5 years of sensor systems engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of radars and/or physics-based phenomena affecting radar or communications systems.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by start date and ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent technical field.
- Experience with advanced DoD sensors and combat systems, particularly in the areas described above.
- Experience leading technical teams.
