Position Overview

The Department of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering (ECEE) at the University of Colorado Boulder is seeking applications for a Visiting Professor role. This position is aimed at experienced researchers and educators who have a proven track record in teaching and mentoring graduate students.

Candidate Profile

We are particularly interested in candidates who possess a cross-disciplinary background, with expertise in areas such as computational neuroscience, vision science, digital video engineering, and machine learning.

The College of Engineering and Applied Science at CU Boulder is recognized as one of the leading public research institutions in the nation. The ECEE department is home to distinguished faculty members, including University Distinguished Professors and recipients of prestigious awards such as IEEE Fellowships and NSF CAREER Awards. The department supports a vibrant community of approximately 400 undergraduate and 480 graduate students, and maintains strong partnerships with local industries and national research laboratories.

Key Responsibilities

  • This is a Non-Tenure-Track position with a 50% FTE appointment.
  • The role entails a distribution of responsibilities comprising 40% research, 40% teaching, and 20% service and leadership.
  • The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching one course each academic year.
  • Engagement in departmental service through committee participation and student outreach initiatives is also expected.

What We Offer

  • The anticipated salary range for this Visiting Professor position is between $105,000 and $110,000 for the academic year at 50% FTE.
  • A relocation stipend is available in accordance with departmental guidelines.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in higher education, with a history of achieving Tenure status.
  • Membership in the National Academy of Engineers is essential.
  • Expertise in developing new theories and algorithms for optimized streaming and sharing of visual media is preferred.
