Job Title: Behavioral Threat Assessment Specialist

Join the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as a Behavioral Threat Assessment Specialist and play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting thorough assessments of individuals who may pose a threat to the university community, developing and implementing effective management strategies, and collaborating with various campus units to prevent and respond to potential threats.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough assessments of individuals who may pose a threat to the university community, including reviewing relevant data and conducting interviews with individuals and their associates.
  • Develop and implement effective management strategies to mitigate potential threats, including working with campus units to develop and implement safety plans.
  • Collaborate with various campus units, including law enforcement, student affairs, and faculty and staff, to prevent and respond to potential threats.
  • Provide training and education to campus units on threat assessment and management best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices in threat assessment and management, including attending conferences and workshops and participating in professional organizations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as psychology, sociology, or criminology.
  • At least 2 years of experience in threat assessment and management, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
