Job Summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Specialist to join our team. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will be responsible for capturing demographic and insurance information from patients, either by phone or in-person. This role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Capture demographic and insurance information from patients
  • Verify insurance eligibility and interpret responses
  • Capture health insurance information and apply contractual benefits
  • Discuss payment responsibility with patients and collect financial information
  • Work effectively in a high-stress environment and manage multiple priorities
Requirements
  • Associate's degree preferred
  • CHAA certification recommended
  • 3-5 years of experience in a healthcare setting
  • Strong computer skills and insurance knowledge
  • Ability to work in a Level I Trauma Center environment
Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to stand for long periods of time and handle a multi-line telephone system. You must also be able to manage contained blood, urine, and other bodily fluids.
