About the Role:
James Madison University is seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to join its Facilities Management team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for coordinating the construction and renovation of major maintenance, capital outlay, and renovation projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and develop specifications, drawings, cost estimates, and other documents required for construction, renovation, or alteration of university facilities.
- Verify the installation of building systems and correct problems to ensure operation.
- Ensure timely preparation of required documentation.
- Review and provide comment on scopes of service, evaluating compliance.
- Administer projects and contracts to ensure conformance.
- Resolve problems and coordinate resolutions.
- Inspect and make recommendations for Capital Outlay construction projects through periodic site visits.
- Review contract documents, plans, specifications, and related materials, providing recommendations for compliance.
- Enforce building code procedures and annual permit policy.
Requirements:
- Must have a Virginia PE license or Architectural License within three months of hire.
- Understanding of mechanical concepts.
- Knowledge of BOCA regulations.
- Knowledge of state-mandated Annual Permit Policy.
- Ability to design and read blueprints.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to write detailed specifications.
- Ability to accommodate any necessary temporary shift demands.
