Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accounting Professional to join our team at Sun Federal Credit Union. As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the credit union's accounts payable database, ensuring timely payment of invoices, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Accounts Payable Management
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts payable database, including vendor and invoice information.
    • Process and verify invoices for payment, ensuring compliance with credit union policies and procedures.
    • Alert the Director of Finance to any invoices received outside of budget parameters or without proper approval.
  2. Expense Report and Corporate Credit Card Accounting
    • Accrue reported expenses into the appropriate month, verifying accuracy and completeness.
    • Process personal account reimbursements and submit corporate card payments for processing.
    • Administer the credit union's SAP Concur account, including creating new user accounts, adding GL accounts as needed, and updating personal mileage reimbursement annually.
  3. Supply Ordering and Tax Administration
    • Coordinate and initiate supply orders for the Credit Union Support Center.
    • Process member backup withholding and retain detailed member reports, monitoring and balancing related general ledgers.
    • Prepare annual IRS form 945 and 945a filing for member backup withholding activity and process sales tax reports and payments.
  4. General Accounting Duties
    • Complete assigned monthly GL reconcilements, variance reporting, month-end financial reports, and annual account budgeting.
    • Prepare account entries by compiling and analyzing account information, documenting financial transactions, and recommending financial actions.
    • Conduct meetings with assigned managers and directors in a timely manner and back up daily functions of other finance staff when needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • One to three years of previous accounting experience preferred.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to work under deadlines and multiple priorities.
  • Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills, with good math skills and attention to accuracy.
  • Ability to use PC, calculator, and other basic business machines, with strong PC skills and the ability to instruct others on Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
