The Lead Windows Systems Administrator will oversee the architecture, deployment, and upkeep of the organization's Windows-centric systems. This position demands a profound understanding and practical experience with Active Directory (AD), VMware, Azure, VMware Horizon, and Microsoft Exchange. The successful candidate will guarantee the reliability, integrity, and effective operation of the internal information systems that underpin essential organizational functions.
Core Responsibilities:
- Active Directory Oversight:
- Architect, deploy, and manage Active Directory frameworks.
- Ensure optimal health and performance of the AD ecosystem.
- Administer Group Policies, Organizational Unit (OU) structures, and AD replication.
- Conduct regular audits and maintenance activities to uphold security and compliance.
- VMware Management:
- Design, implement, and oversee VMware infrastructures.
- Carry out routine maintenance and updates for VMware systems.
- Diagnose and resolve VMware-related challenges.
- Enhance and monitor VMware performance and resource allocation.
- Azure Administration:
- Manage and sustain Azure infrastructure and services.
- Implement and oversee Azure AD Connect and Azure AD functionalities.
- Monitor and optimize Azure resource utilization and expenses.
- Ensure security and compliance within Azure environments.
- VMware Horizon Management:
- Deploy and manage VMware Horizon environments.
- Diagnose and resolve issues associated with VMware Horizon.
- Microsoft Exchange Oversight:
- Administer and maintain Hybrid Exchange environments, on-premises Exchange servers, and Office 365 systems.
- Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patches.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Exchange-related challenges.
- Ensure email security, compliance, and peak performance.
- Configure, set up, and manage email security protocols including Proofpoint, DMARC, and SPF.
- General Duties:
- Monitor system performance, availability, and security.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior administrators and IT personnel.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support as necessary.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and support of IT services.
- Oversee lifecycle management from provisioning to decommissioning.
- Build, manage, and support virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) and Remote Desktop Services (RDS).
- Additional Preferred Knowledge:
- Familiarity with tools such as AD Audit Plus, Lansweeper, Netwrix, Veeam, Bigfix, and SpecOps.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of experience in Windows Administration.
- Extensive expertise in Active Directory, including design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in VMware administration, including ESXi and vCenter.
- Experience with Azure management and services.
- Hands-on experience with VMware Horizon.
- Strong knowledge of managing Microsoft Hybrid Exchange environments, including email security protocols.
- Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant certifications such as MCSE, VCP, and Azure certifications are highly regarded.
