Job Responsibilities and Qualifications

Float pool nurses play a crucial role in delivering care across various hospital units. They are equipped with advanced critical thinking skills and extensive clinical knowledge, allowing them to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.

Unit Highlights:

  • Strong communication and collaboration among all hospital staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the Director or Nurse Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) coordinates and delivers patient care, taking individual responsibility for nursing practices.
  • Ensures nursing care aligns with hospital policies, state Nursing Practice Acts, and professional standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • BSN preferred.
  • Current RN licensure in Missouri required; multistate license holders must obtain Missouri license within 90 days.
  • BLS certification required upon hire and must be maintained.
  • ACLS certification required within six months.
  • NIH Stroke Scale certification required within 90 days and annually thereafter.
  • Minimum of eight hours of stroke-related continuing education required annually.
  • Trauma care credentialing (TNCC) required within six months, with eight hours of trauma-related education annually.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience in a similar facility with comparable services is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in emergency, pre-hospital, or critical care settings is preferred.
