As a Physical Therapist Assistant at University Hospitals Health System, you will work under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist to help patients regain range of movement and control their pain. Your role will involve providing physical therapy services, instructing and motivating patients, and observing their progress.
Key Responsibilities- Provide physical therapy services under the direction of a licensed physical therapist
- Instruct and motivate patients to practice exercises or functional activities
- Observe patients during treatments and compile data on their responses and progress
- Confer with physical therapy staff to discuss patient information and plan treatment
- Administer manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, and other treatments as directed
- Measure patients' range-of-joint motion and vital signs
- Communicate with caregivers and family members on patient therapeutic activities and treatment plans
- Transport patients to and from treatment areas and secure them into therapy equipment
- Train patients in the use of orthopedic braces and supportive devices
- Clean work areas and check and store equipment after treatment
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's degree in physical therapy or related field preferred
- Experience working in a physical therapy setting preferred
- Ability to lift and transfer patients as needed
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
