Job Summary
University Hospitals is seeking a skilled Art Therapist to join our team. As an Art Therapist, you will provide patient-centered care using art-making processes to promote emotional expression, healing, and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide art therapy interventions to adult patients and their caregivers/families, adhering to American Art Therapy Association standards of care.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver patient and family care, ensuring a comprehensive and relationship-based approach.
- Participate in trainings, team meetings, and rounds to function as a team-member and uphold the AT/MT Department and UH system missions.
- Supervise graduate interns, as needed, and take responsibility for self-development, supporting a learning environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned, complying with all policies and standards.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Art Therapy or Bachelor's Degree equivalency degree in Art Therapy with a master's in a related field.
- Thorough knowledge of Art therapy process and practice, allowing for appropriate care of adult patients and their caregivers/families.
- Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of visual artistic media and art therapy interventions for a diverse patient and family base.
- Able to summarize and write art therapy session notes in a professional manner.
- Demonstrated knowledge of psychosocial and physical dysfunction, including adaptations of equipment and materials to meet patient needs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of art therapy ethics and code of conduct.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in art therapy or a related field.
- Registered Art Therapist and/or Board Certified or soon to be eligible.
Work Environment
- Will work between St. John's Medical and Parma Medical Center.
- This is a grant-funded position, lasting 2 years.
