Job Summary

As a Plastics Specialty Nurse, you will play a critical role in the coordination of specialty services, including fiscal responsibility and specified activities within the service line. You will provide leadership for the provision of quality patient care in accordance with the hospital's mission, goals, and philosophy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate specialty services, including fiscal responsibility and specified activities within the service line.
  • Provide leadership for the provision of quality patient care in accordance with the hospital's mission, goals, and philosophy.
  • Assist leaders with probationary and performance feedback for specialty team members.
  • Respond and provide direction in planning, organizing, delegating, and coordinating unit-related activities as well as specialty service activities.
  • Conduct all training for new employees, serve as a preceptor for the service line, and assess employee skills and competencies.
  • Responsible for achieving specific budget targets on an annual basis and proactively addressing any variances greater than 5% with leaders.
  • Coordinate and ensure accuracy of physician preference cards in an effort to expedite all surgeries and build upon physician satisfaction.
  • Promote an "error-free" working environment by consistently providing high-quality, safe care as prompted.
  • Meet or exceed unit standards in achieving a 95% CEI, complete documentation in a timely manner, and be accountable for regulatory requirements of the DNV, CMS, DOH, and other accrediting agencies.
  • Maintain accountability by ensuring compliance through timely completion of licensures, certifications, all competencies, health requirements (PPD, N95, Flu), and education requirements.
  • Maintain professional accountability and timekeeping expectations as outlined by MCHS Timekeeping and Attendance procedures and ensure behavior is compliant with communication standards.
Qualifications
  • RN Licensure within the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC) - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.
  • American Heart Association BLS - must maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.
  • American Heart Association PALS - must maintain active and in good standing throughout employment within 2 years of hire.
  • 1-3 years Pediatric RN experience including charge experience.
  • 1-3 years RN operation room experience.
Career Development
  • BSN degree highly preferred or currently enrolled in BSN program (requiring proof) within 6 months of hire.
  • National certification Certified Pediatric Nurse (CNOR/CPN) and/or certification equivalent, preferably within 5 years of hire.
  • Able to analyze and interpret data and utilize the information to make judgments regarding patient care.
  • Ability to perform skills in all specialty areas.
  • Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families, and co-workers.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to positively influence, hold self and others accountable.
  • Able to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to apply principles of evidence-based practice, analytical thinking, and service excellence in practice.
  • Basic proficiency in computers and Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
