Position Overview

Title: Industrial Engineer
Grade: EAS-21
FLSA Status: Exempt
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 08:00 A.M. to 05:00 P.M.
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough analyses of mail processing and maintenance operations, utilizing industrial engineering principles to enhance service delivery, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
  2. Evaluate daily performance metrics and operational data to identify areas for improvement in workforce and equipment utilization.
  3. Assess business processes and programs, recognizing trends and developing actionable strategies to meet operational objectives.
  4. Collaborate with engineering teams to implement national initiatives and provide insights for facility and equipment modifications.
  5. Offer technical guidance to management regarding engineering practices relevant to mail processing and maintenance.
  6. Work with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in service, cost, and productivity.
  7. Deliver training to managers and staff on standardization and continuous improvement methodologies.
  8. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide technical advice and policy interpretation.
  9. Review modifications to facility designs and processes to ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Qualifications:

  1. In-depth knowledge of industrial engineering concepts, including layout planning, process analysis, and quality control.
  2. Proficient in developing operational layouts and process flows.
  3. Ability to integrate new equipment and technology into existing systems.
  4. Skilled in applying engineering principles to enhance operational performance and workforce management.
  5. Capable of analyzing data to identify service and financial improvement opportunities.
  6. Effective communicator, able to provide training and guidance to diverse audiences.
  7. Education/Experience: A Bachelor's or advanced degree in industrial engineering or a related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a Professional Engineer license and significant experience in industrial engineering.
  8. Special Requirements: Willingness to travel and work outside standard hours for project needs.
