Position Overview:

This role serves as a vital resource for administrators within the Student Life and Engagement division, acting as a liaison to central Human Resources to oversee and coordinate various human resources activities. The position involves interpreting and implementing HR policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer HR functions related to attendance, disciplinary actions, leaves of absence, and accommodation requests for a large administrative unit.
  • Serve as the primary contact for conducting and maintaining criminal background checks for employees involved in youth summer camp events and managing the background check process for event workers and volunteers.
  • Assist in labor relations activities, including conducting investigations, handling disciplinary matters, and addressing grievances.
  • Provide guidance to staff on HR policies and procedures, solving complex issues related to HR programs.
  • Analyze labor relations data, prepare reports, and collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance with HR protocols.
  • Coordinate operational tasks and perform related administrative duties as required.
  • Work closely with HR Accommodation Specialists and supervisors to manage accommodation requests effectively.

Communication and Interpersonal Relationships:

This position requires interaction with:

  • Administrators and Supervisors to provide updates and discuss HR management activities.
  • Faculty, Academic Staff, Support Staff, and Managers to offer information and advice on HR matters.
  • HR Staff and Union Representatives to discuss disciplinary actions and grievances.
  • Volunteer Groups to facilitate the completion of criminal background checks.

Work Environment:
The position is based in a standard office setting, with the flexibility to work remotely. However, attendance at events during evenings and weekends is necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants should possess knowledge equivalent to a four-year degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, along with three to five years of progressively responsible experience in HR functions and labor relations management.

Desired Qualifications:
Experience with ICHAT is preferred.
