Job Description:

As a Cybersecurity Analyst III, you will play a critical role in protecting the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services' (DADS) information systems from cyber threats. You will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing cybersecurity alerts, evaluating network and system security configurations, and performing direct analysis and configuration of security tools and operational systems.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Monitor and analyze cybersecurity alerts from various sources, including cybersecurity tools, network devices, and information systems.
  2. Evaluate network and system security configurations to ensure best practices and risk-based access controls are in place.
  3. Perform direct analysis and configuration of security tools and operational systems to ensure successful integration within the enterprise environment.
  4. Assess established security policy criteria against actual operational functions to ensure success criteria of data security controls and processes.
  5. Develop repeatable reporting metrics and data presentations from numerous security toolsets to include SIEM logs, packet capture analysis, web proxy security management appliance, and network performance monitoring systems.
  6. Conduct breach readiness assessments, design, test, and practice breach management response, and conduct threat modeling to identify threat vectors and anomalies in large volumes of data.

Requirements:
  • Technical proficiency in CSOC tools and their use by cybersecurity staff.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Texas state government and its information systems.
  • Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations relevant to information technology in Texas.
  • Knowledge of industry-accepted software engineering practices and life cycle methods.
  • Knowledge of the limitations and capabilities of computer systems.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure designs, technologies, products, and services, including networking protocols, firewall functionality, host and network intrusion detection systems, operating systems, databases, encryption, load balancing, and other technologies.
  • Knowledge of procedures on systems security, inventory, and database management.
  • Knowledge across all network layers and computer platforms, including operational support of networking, operating systems, Internet technologies, databases, and security application support, and information security practices, procedures, and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to analyze complex data and synthesize large amounts of information.
  • Ability to prepare, interpret, and present complex statistical and information analysis reports.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate systems and procedures.
  • Ability to manage, interpret, analyze, evaluate, and summarize data on a statewide basis using appropriate computer technology and analytical methods.
  • Ability to communicate with varied levels of staff to develop positive effective working relationships.
  • Ability to configure, deploy, and monitor security infrastructure.
  • Ability to provide effective communication both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform security risk assessments, including vulnerability analysis and penetration testing.
  • Ability to plan, organize, assign, and oversee the work of others, track progress, and take corrective action to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to network intrusion detection.
